About Fraud Prevention and Detection Fee
<p>This mandatory <b>$500 fee</b> is paid to USCIS for each initial H-1B petition or change of employer petition (not for renewals with the same employer).</p><p>It was established by the H-1B Visa Reform Act of 2004 to support:</p><ul><li>Fraud investigations</li><li>Site visits</li></ul><p>Every new cap case or transfer requires this fee, but H-1B extensions with the same employer do not. It's commonly just called the <b>'fraud fee.'</b></p>
