About Fraud Prevention and Detection Fee

This mandatory $500 fee is paid to USCIS for each initial H-1B petition or change of employer petition (not for renewals with the same employer).It was established by the H-1B Visa Reform Act of 2004 to support:<ul><li>Fraud investigations</li><li>Site visits</li></ul>Every new cap case or transfer requires this fee, but H-1B extensions with the same employer do not. It's commonly just called the 'fraud fee.'
