SEVIS

<p>Not directly H-1B, but relevant for F-1 to H-1B transitions. <b>SEVIS</b> is where schools manage F-1 student records.</p><p>When an F-1 is selected in the H-1B lottery, their DSO will update SEVIS with a cap-gap extension flag. Also, when they change status to H-1B on Oct 1, that SEVIS record eventually gets completed.</p><p>SEVIS is mainly for tracking students/exchange visitors, but an H-1B beneficiary often comes from a SEVIS-tracked status.</p>
