About Site Visit

USCIS's Fraud Detection and National Security (FDNS) unit conducts site visits to employers who have sponsored H-1B (and L-1) workers.

An officer may visit the office or worksite to confirm that:

The H-1B employee is working in the role described

At the location on the petition

Being paid the wage promised

They often ask to speak to the H-1B employee and an HR representative. With the 2025 regulation, DHS's authority to do site visits and penalize non-cooperation is now codified. These visits are to detect fraud or non-compliance (like H-1B not actually working there, etc.).
